Good Monday, folks. We are quickly transitioning into a whole new world of weather out there this week as summertime temps slowly build across the region. Scattered storms are acting as the warm up act (Get it? Warm up act😁 ) to the summer surge.
Those scattered storms are out there today and will keep our temps down a bit for some areas. Temps may legitimately range from the low and mid 60s under any shower or storm, to near 80 for areas getting in on more sun. Here are your friendly storm tracking radars…
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be around over the next few days, with the focus of the heaviest rains continuing to shift farther north and west. Here are the rainfall numbers from the GFS through Wednesday…
A major ridge of high pressure then flexes some muscle later in the week into the coming weekend. This sends the storms back to the rest and boosts our temps into deep summer range…
Highs by Thursday and Friday are deep into the 80s…
It’s once into the weekend when temps could make a run at the 90 degree mark…
The threat for a few thunderstorms may fire back up into the first half of next week…
This is a 180 from the first half of the month in terms of temps. Lexington is more than 1 degree colder to date than the coldest May on record from 1917. The temps over the next week will make sure we are no longer on this record pace.
Have a great day and take care.
Hopefully we will receive some rain in the next couple days. Because it appears that we are headed for a long hot dry spell.
Not a good start for the planting season.
At least humidity levels will not feel like August.
I don’t want a long drought, but I’m ready for this weather. 😀
This stretch of weather should raise ground temperatures above the 65° level that triggers the emergence of the Brood X cicadas swarm.
NOT looking forward. to that!
What is this Blood Cicadas?
