Good Wednesday, folks. Showers and thunderstorms are back in the bluegrass state and we are on guard for a few strong storms and heavy rains. This is kicking off what appears to be a fairly wet month of June taking shape in our neck of the woods.
A slow-moving low is working into the lower Ohio Valley today. This won’t clear the region until Friday, so that keeps rounds of showers and thunderstorms going for a few days. This sets us up for the potential for heavy rainfall, especially across western and central Kentucky…
We will need to watch for local high water issues developing.
A few of the storms out there today could be strong or locally severe. The overall threat is dependent on some afternoon breaks in the clouds that would help fuel these stronger storms developing in the west and rolling toward the east.
The Storm Prediction Center continues to put much of Kentucky in a low-end risk for severe storms…
Friday looks like a much better weather day with mainly dry skies and temps reaching 75-80. The numbers climb to around normal for the weekend with a partly sunny sky and just a slight chance for a shower or thunderstorm.
The flow early next week is likely to bring air in here from the Gulf Of Mexico, triggering more rounds of showers and storms. Later in the week, we may see some northwest to southeast diving thunderstorms as a ridge builds and migrates toward the west…
This is also a pattern to watch for some mid-late month tropical action off the southeast coast.
