Good Tuesday, everyone. It’s a much better feeling pattern across Kentucky with a little taste of September temps taking over. As a matter of fact, the overall pattern is straight out of the 9th month of the year and it’s complete with a burst from the tropics. One of the systems in the Gulf of Mexico has a chance to throw some juice our way.

Temps out there today are in much better shape as low humidity moves in. The day starts in the 50s for most of the region with highs mainly 75-80 for central and eastern Kentucky with low 80s in the west. There is still the threat for a stray shower on a northwest flow, but most of the day looks dry.

Another push of cooler air arrives late tonight and that keeps temps up a bit compared to this morning, but it brings in cooler air for Wednesday afternoon. Check out the high temps forecast from the Hi Res NAM…

This trend rolls into Thursday with lows deep into the 50s and highs staying in the 70s east and low 80s west. Friday sees temps begin to rebound ahead of our next front arriving on the scene to start the weekend. How things progress from this point depend a lot on what’s going on in the Gulf. The tropics are coming to life with a Tropical Storm off the east coast, a system of interest way out in the Atlantic and our Gulf system…

Here’s how this system looks on satellite…

The models still have a lot of time to determine what interaction we get between our weekend trough and this system in the Gulf. The EURO is showing the inland track of this thing just to our south and east…

You can see just how close the EURO is to having this initial trough picking up this system. You will also notice a second trough digging in behind that…

The GFS looks pretty similar…

That’s not exactly a heart of summer look showing up. The control run of the EURO Ensembles keep a trough around in the means on the June 21st to June 28th period…

Make it a great day and take care.
