Good Wednesday, everyone. Our September pattern has settled into the Commonwealth and this is going to hang around for the better part of the next week or so. This will be complete with a tropical system down in the Gulf of Mexico.

Let’s kick this party off with what’s happening out there today. A northwesterly wind flow continues and may even spit out an isolated shower as highs generally hang in the 70s.

Lows tonight will drop deep into the 50s and we may even have some upper 40s show up in the coolest valleys…

Thursday is another very nice day with mild temps and low humidity levels.

As all of this is happening, a disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico is on the way to becoming a named storm in the next few days. The National Hurricane Center map looks more like September than June…

The Satellite shows this system becoming better organized…

This storm will likely head toward Louisiana as a Tropical Storm or even weak hurricane by the weekend. From there, it has two systems trying to grab it and pull it northward. The first is a cold front arriving here late Friday into Saturday with the potential for strong storms. The second is another blast of September air coming early next week.

The models are handling everything differently in respects to the Gulf system…

GFS

It remains to be seen if we can get a direct impact from this system, but the potential is there for some moisture to move in here.

Speaking of rainfall, the EURO Weeklies are now out through the closing days of July and show a deep corridor of above normal rainfall from the Gulf into our region…

Make it a great day and take care.
