Good evening, everyone. It’s been a rainy and dreary day across most of the region and this is a sign of what’s to come over the next few days. This happens as a fall storm system wraps up on top of us, bringing more heavy rain and a blast of October temps behind it.
Parts of central Kentucky have picked up 1″-2″ of rain and it’s still falling. With additional rounds of rain and storms to go through Wednesday, these areas will have to watch for local high water issues to develop.
Overall, the forecast remains in good shape. It’s a setup I’ve been yapping about for more than a week now, so it’s good to see things playing out as advertised.
As our cold front moves in late Tuesday, it brings more showers and storms with it. Low pressure then develops along the front and works across the state Wednesday before wrapping up into a sizable storm system in the Great Lakes by Wednesday night and Thursday.
Here’s how the EURO sees this setup…
Additional rains through Thursday morning illustrate the local flash flood concerns…
The Canadian has a similar look with the rain numbers…
Temps behind the low on Wednesday will likely stay in the 50s for afternoon highs across much of the region. Winds will also be gusty, making it feel chillier than that. Highs for Thursday and Friday are in the 60s with lows deep into the 40s, especially when skies clear by Friday morning.
Given all this, here’s your upgrade…
Let’s keep that rolling through the rest of September as two more deep troughs swing in with colder than normal air…
The first arrives Saturday with a gusty band of showers. Temps behind that will be as chilly or chillier than what’s ahead later this week. The next system may also knock the numbers down to those levels or below…
I will have your full update later tonight. Until then, you know the radar drill…
Have a great rest of your evening and take care.
