Good Saturday to one and all. It’s a whole new ballgame across Kentucky as the coldest air of the young fall season settles in. This will bring the potential for patchy frost tonight with seasonable air to follow into early next week. This kicks off a pattern that continues to skew colder than normal for the end of October.

Today starts with drying skies from west to east, but some showers will linger into the middle of the morning in the east. Here are your radars to follow this stuff out of town…

Temps today range from the upper 50s to low 60s for afternoon highs on a strong northwest wind. The winds come down tonight, but will be just enough to prevent widespread frost from developing as temps reach 35-40 in many areas. The colder valleys may see a touch of frost as the winds may go calm for a bit in the low spots.

Sunday is another fine fall day with sunshine and highs 60-65. Monday morning temps range from the upper 30s to low 40s with afternoon readings back into the 60s. This is a gorgeous stretch of fall weather that will take us through Wednesday, so make plans to enjoy it.

The next system then moves through here with some showers on Thursday. This will usher in another shot of chilly temps for the weekend and is likely to be followed up by another system a few days later…

Looking longer range, the EURO Ensembles continue to point toward a colder scenario for the final few weeks of the month. You can see the deep trough of next weekend being replaced by another deepening trough a few days later…

Remember when I said this pattern might be able to produce some Appalachian Mountain flakes before October ends? The EURO Ensembles see the chance of that happening…

Make it a great Saturday and take care.
