Good afternoon, folks. It’s a cloudy and chilly day in the bluegrass state as our pattern continues to undergo big changes. These changes will lead to two potent systems impacting us next week with the potential for strong storms, heavy rain, gusty winds and a cold blast of air.

Let’s begin with our Sunday/Monday system and the impact it will have on our weather.

A warm front lifts northward through the region Saturday night and Sunday. This will bring a few showers and storms with it as temps surge from south to north Sunday. Highs get into the low and middle 70s.

Low pressure will be developing to our west and rolling eastward into the Ohio Valley Monday. This has the spike of warmer temps ahead of it and a temp crash coming behind it…

This is a likely severe weather maker across the Mid Mississippi Valley Sunday and some of that may get into western Kentucky Sunday afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has this area in the severe weather risk…

Some strong storms may also be possible Sunday night and early Monday across the rest of the state as our low bowls through here. With or without storms, winds are a big player and the NAM has some major gusts…

Chilly temps will be noted for Tuesday as leftover showers pull away.

This sets the stage for a major amplification of the jet stream for the middle and end of next week. The GFS is correcting toward everything else (as expected)…

The Canadian continues with a significant system…

The EURO is showing a little bit of its own bias now by holding the energy to far west and southwest, but it has the overall idea still…

The end result from all of this is rounds of rain, gusty winds and very chilly temps. Highs in the 40s for a few days will be a good bet.

I will have the latest on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm. Until then, here are your radars to follow any light shower showing up through the evening…

…

Have a great rest of the day and take care.
