Good Saturday, everyone. It’s the final weekend of November and that means the start of meteorological winter is just around the corner. As we get ready to end November, our temps are reary to take off for a couple of days before they come crashing down into the first weekend of December.

Temps today are much milder than our frigid Friday. Temps out there this morning are into the 20s, but will bounce into the 40s for many with a 50 in the west and south. Normal highs right now are still in the 50-55 degree range for most areas.

Some clouds will move through later today as a system zips into the Ohio Valley. Some evening action may get close to northern Kentucky, so let’s throw some radars at you…

This system does bring colder air into the region over the next few days, but it’s likely to have the greatest impact across the north and east. Temps in those areas range from the upper 30s to low 40s with areas farther west and south into the 40s to near 50.

December is likely to open with much milder winds blowing and we may very well hit 60 degrees.

This will be ahead of what’s likely to be a few big time amplifications in jet stream starting next weekend into the following week. The models will show some pretty wicked flip flops in the coming days, so we can’t get too excited or dejected over any one particular run.

You can see the big dips in the jet stream showing up on the GFS from December 3-7…

At the surface, the model has lost the big storm on this run, but it’s showing two snow chances with cold air crashing in…

If we contrast that to the latest run of the EURO, we find some big differences. The new run of the EURO completely abandons the it’s prior ideas of cold air crashing in…

Here’s the surface…

Not sure you could ever find a single model show more of a difference from one run to the next than what the EURO just pulled off.

I will have updates later today. Have a great Saturday and take care.
