Good Saturday everyone. The weekend is shaping up to be an awesome one with mild days and cold nights with plenty of clear skies. Changes are showing up for next week and beyond as the pattern continues the transition into winter.
We also gain an extra hour of sleep tonight as we do this…
The best part about the time change is I get to see those overnight computer models an hour earlier now as their clock stays the same.
It’s also a good time to check the batteries in the smoke detectors. That’s my public service announcement for the year.
Let’s talk a little weather as we do have a great weekend going on. Our days will start with upper 20s and low 30s and afternoon temps warm into the upper 50s and low 60s today and low and mid 60s for Sunday.
We will see a tad more moisture increasing by Monday and this should result in a few more clouds. Someone might be able to squeeze out a shower or two. I’m looking at you western Kentucky!
Our change begins to show up later Tuesday into Wednesday as a major fall storm cranks across the plains states. This storm will roll toward the Great Lakes by Wednesday and drag a cold front into the state from the west. Showers and thunderstorms will flare up along the boundary and gusty winds will become an issue.
I want to show you how the European Model handles this…
That’s a busy set of maps. Here’s a breakdown…
– We will have to watch Tuesday night into early Wednesday for the chance for a few strong storms with this front.
– Much colder air filters in behind this bad boy as it sweeps to our east. Readings for Thursday and Friday should stay in the 40s.
– There could be a couple of disturbances dropping in from the northwest by Friday into the start of the weekend. It’s not THAT far fetched for this setup to produce some flakes around here. We’ll see.
– Low pressure down near the Bahamas is the same system that produced a blizzard in Colorado Tuesday and brought rain to us on Thursday. It worked off the southeastern coast and is forecast to swirl around the Bahamas for a few days before it’s picked up and absorbed into low pressure across the northeast. Think about this for a second… a blizzard in Colorado winds up in the Bahamas and then tries to become a noreaster. Talk about the weather going to the extreme AGAIN!
With a busy pattern ahead… let’s enjoy the awesome weather of the next few days. I will talk more about the changes with updates later in the weekend. Have a great Saturday and take care.
