Good afternoon, folks. I wanted to drop by to give you guys an update on our light snowfall moving in tonight through Friday night. This is likely to cause travel issues across much of central and eastern Kentucky during this time.
Here’s my brand spanking New Call For Snowfall…
This comes in two waves with the first showing up overnight into Friday morning. Then we get a small scale system to spin through from northwest to southeast on Friday. That’s going to fire up some hefty snow showers and snow squalls. Those may have some streaks of overachieving in there.
In terms of the models, the Canadian has become the most aggressive with the snowfall…
The Short Range Canadian is also on board…
The EURO is even a bit farther west with a stripe of snow…
The GFS is also increasing the overall coverage and totals…
Single digit lows will then show up by Saturday morning with a wind chill going below zero.
I have no changes to the pattern ahead of us next week into the following week. This will be another harsh winter pattern, so buckle up.
I will have updates as needed and on WKYT-TV all evening long. I leave you with your radars to follow the flakes…
Enjoy the rest of the day and take care.
This morning it snow briefly just enough cover the roads and grass here in my next of woods here in western ky. We are 10 inches below than normal average in snowfall. Maybe February will give us the chance to catch up.
Thanks Chris, no Snow Showers reported here, but they are in my local forecast. Up around Cincinnati the Snow flakes are flying.
Nor’ Easter likely to happen on Saturday, but the models still can’t figure out the track of the Low pressure system as it phases off the Atlantic shore sometime tomorrow evening.
I’m more concerned about what will happen here in our area of the country next Wednesday and Thursday.
Can’t wait to see what the models say as we get closer to the event.
