Good Thursday, everyone. It’s a little colder across the region today, but much milder air is ready to move in for the weekend. As a matter of fact, this will be a full blown case of spring fever. You better enjoy it because things change in a hurry as winter stages a comeback.
Temps today range from the 40s in the north to the 60s in the south and west with partly cloudy skies.
Milder wind then surge back in here for Friday with numbers in the 60s for many. That southwest wind will really kick in for Saturday with temps deep into the 70s for most of the state. There’s a small threat for a storm or two in the west.
Temps stay very mild on Sunday, but some scattered showers and storms move in through the day. This is ahead of a much stronger system that impacts the region on Monday…
Strong storms and heavy rain will be possible Monday into Monday evening and that’s something to keep a close eye on. Rainfall numbers are way up there…
That’s just a little farther north of the area I started highlighting about a week ago…
Much colder air then comes in behind this and there’s a chance for some flakes to fly on Tuesday…
This kicks off a pattern that will look and feel a lot like winter that’s likely to hang around for a few weeks. Temps are expected to go MUCH below normal late next week. Check out the temp departures from the GFS…
The GFS Ensembles agree with a prolonged cold pattern…
If you’re a fan of winter, the pattern ahead should be to your liking. If you’re on the #TeamSpring wagon like I am, you ain’t happy.😡
Enjoy your day and take care.
Normal ups and downs. All is well. 🙂
Thanks Chris, Yesterday is what I call A Perfect Spring Day with A high Temperature of 71 Degrees, Light Winds and Low dew points.
The upcoming Much warmer Weather forecast this coming Weekend with high Winds will dry the Forest out to the point that Any Rain that Falls will be Welcome.
Hoping that Winter weather Returns to Keep the Plant Life Dormant. The Old Saying ” April Showers bring May Flowers ” Not Frozen Flowers.
Here is the complete summary for February 2022 and Winter 2021-22 for the Chicago area.
https://weather.gov/lot/Winter2021-22Climate
Even though December was the sixth warmest December in Chicago weather history, temperatures and snowfall finished right around average for the winter thanks to temps being much-below normal in January and below normal in February.
What a roller-coaster ride the Chicago area is going to be in regarding temperatures for the next several days. After highs only in the 30s today, temps are going to surge to the upper 60s Saturday then plummet back down to the 30s by Monday with a possible accumulating snow.
This after high temps reached near 60 degrees yesterday across the area.
that temp gradient is fun to watch. 48 in Lex and mid 70s in Knoxville.
