Good Friday and welcome to April. On this first day of a brand new month, we have some rain and snow showers kicking things off. Why? Because Mother Nature can, that’s why!! This continues to be part of a wild temperature ride that’s taking shape for the first two weeks of the month. Yippee!
As mentioned, a few rain and snow showers are showing up out there this morning. The greatest threat is in the north and east, and your friendly radars are following the action…
Some sun returns by the afternoon as temps continue to struggle. Readings range from the upper 40s to middle 50s across the state.
Temps tonight drop into the upper 20s to low 30s with a mix of clouds and stars.
Clouds will increase on Saturday as another system threatens to bring a few late day showers back in here. Highs are mainly in the 50s, giving us another below normal temp day.
Sunday into Monday look pretty good as temps get closer to normal.
A storm system then rolls in here for Tuesday and brings an increased threat for showers and thunderstorms…
That will be followed up by a potent cold front that may bring strong storms in here by Wednesday…
That could also become another big wind maker around here as it’s being pushed by a MAJOR trough digging into the region for the second half of next week. It’s rare to get this kind of agreement from the models…

Cold temps will be likely late next week into the following weekend. Everything from flakes to a hard freeze will be possible during this time. 🥶🏳
That should lift out fairly quickly as week two of April turns around to feature a big ridge across the east…

Much warmer than normal temps should show up and this will likely kick off a pretty active thunderstorm and severe weather season in this region.
Enjoy your Friday and take care.
Please no more high winds. I am still sitting here in the dark.
We didn’t have any issues with the electrical power, but there is scattered damage throughout our area. I’m sure your electrical power will be restored very soon.
All models agreeing, so I will expect more wind and hopefully at least a couple of inches of rain this time around.
It was a very rainy Wednesday and Thursday across the Chicago Metro Area, with a total of 1.6 inches of rain at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport and over 2 inches of rain at the NWS Forecast Office in the SW Suburbs for those two days.
That was followed by light snow in the colder weather this morning, which left a dusting on the ground. The snow melted, but it’s a chilly, breezy day here with temps barely above 40 despite some sun.
Appropriate weather for April Fool’s Day!
