Good Sunday to one and all. Milder air is fighting into the region today but this is only good enough to get us closer to normal. As we head into the first full week of April, some big time changes are on the way. Strong storms and snowflakes are in the ugly forecast. #TeamSpring continues to be in a deep funk. 😡

Temps out there today should reach 60-65 in most areas with a mix of sun and clouds.

60s should again show up on Monday as clouds thicken with an increasing chance for a few showers coming from those clouds later in the day. That’s ahead of a storm system set to bring showers and storms in here for Tuesday…

As that moves through here, another system quickly dives in behind it and this arrives in the form of a potent cold front. Temps spike right ahead of this front and may reach deep into the 70s in the east on Wednesday…

Areas of central and eastern Kentucky may see strong to severe storms as this front blasts through…

This is being pushed by a MAJOR trough diving into the eastern half of the country for the end of the week into next weekend. Take a look at this monster…

Image

That spells absolutely nasty weather around here with cold temps to go along with rain and snow showers. This looks ugly for the opening weekend of the spring meet at Keeneland…

Temps are frigid for this time of year. Check out the high temps from the GFS…

SATURDAY

That’s just absurd for this time of year and wind chills will be even colder than that.

The pattern should flip to warmer into the following week as we continue to see a ridge setting up around here…

That’s a pattern likely to feature some big storms rumbling through here. But I don’t think this is spring settling in for good. This pattern has more cold shots to throw at us before the month is over and potentially into early May.

Enjoy your Sunday and take care.
