Good Tuesday to one and all. It’s another ugly spring weather day across Kentucky with cold temps and even a rain or snow shower in the north and east. From here, things can only get better and they most certainly will. A blast of late May temps is on the way later this week into the upcoming weekend.

That blast looks to have a short shelf life and we will get into that later on.

Let’s begin with today’s ugly. Northwest winds are cranking and that’s delivering some early day rain and snow showers north and east. This action is pretty scattered, but it will be out there once again. Here are your radars to follow along…

Temps today will struggle to get much past 50 degrees on a day where 70 is the norm.

Milder winds will kick in for Wednesday with temps back into the 60s with a mix of sun and clouds. Those clouds will thicken during the evening as a cold front slides in here early Thursday. That brings a few showers and storms with it…

That front slows down and heads back to the north as a warm front later in the day. This brings better weather in here by Thursday afternoon and evening as temps begin to climb. That climb really kicks in on Friday and takes us through the weekend. Highs may reach the low 80s…

Wow!! This is going to be one amazing weekend and the true start of spring… Right?

If you’re a regular reader you know this isn’t even close and we have more cold weather coming in here into May.

A strong cold front arrives on Monday with showers and storms and puts an abrupt end to our warm spell…

Temps behind this tank and go well below normal once again by the middle of next week…

That’s a pattern that will lead to another frost and freeze threat next week.

Unfortunately, this colder than normal look lasts into, at least, early May. Here are the 7 day temp departures from the ensembles for April 27-May 4…
