Good Monday to one and all. We have a cold front working through the region today and this will bring a brief round of calm weather. Rounds of storms look to kick in for the middle and end of the week with the increasing chance for some strong or severe storms during that time.
Speaking of strong to severe storms, some early morning big boomers are rolling through here ahead of our cold front early today. The best chance for the morning action is across the east and your friendly radars have you covered…
Temps come down into the low and middle 70s this afternoon and that continues into Tuesday. Skies are mainly dry during this time.
Rounds of thunderstorms return Wednesday and Thursday as a boundary straddles the region…
A few strong to severe storms will be possible and these may put down a lot of rain in some areas.
Temps then surge big time for a few days ahead of a strong cold front working in here over the weekend. That’s likely to crank a line of strong to severe storms ahead of it…
The models are bringing a big blast of below normal temps coming in behind it. Recent runs of the GFS are showing a healthy run of below normal temps. Check out the 5 day average anomalies from May 21-May 27…
Some of the models are hinting at early season tropical development way down in the Caribbean. That will be interesting to watch as we get closer to the official start of the hurricane season… A season likely to be active once again.
Enjoy your Monday and take care.
Does anyone else hate the NWS radar since they upgraded it? It’s painfully slow and buggy STILL… On the LMK NWS main page…you can see the radar they make available to click on……and it looks great….only until you click on it…I’ve tried all different settings and played around with it but no matter what…the motion is slow…it makes me wonder what they are actually using on the main NWS LMK site…that radar has faster motion….and a white background…but nothing I’ve tried in the radar settings can replicate that..so it must be something exclusive to them.. I dunno.
Mark, I know what you mean about the NWS radar and that’s why I never visit that site. The radar on Chris’s blog is the only one I trust.
Rain continues to avoid my area. Looks like we may be entering an abnormally dry period soon, but I hope not. The good news is we haven’t received much in the way of severe weather this Spring.
The Atlantic Hurricane Season is forecast to be very active thanks to an unwanted and it seems like a never ending La Nina.
In the meantime enjoy the pleasant weather today.
