Good Saturday to one and all. It’s an absolutely amazing weekend in the bluegrass state with low humidity, sun and pleasant temps. I wanted to use this update for a look down the road for the rest of June and then into Summer.
The overall pattern continues to likely skew cooler than normal over the next few weeks.
The GFS Ensembles give us this for the next 10 days…
That matches the operational GFS very well…
If we look at the GFS for the following 5 days, it gives us this look…
All of this is likely to feature an above normal rainfall pattern, too. The GFS Ensembles over the next two weeks…
If we look ahead to summer, the CFS seasonal model shows a below normal temp look to much of the country…
That goes along with a much wetter than normal summer…
We will see how that plays out.
Have a great Saturday and take care.
Below normal temps. during the summer months means above normal rainfall.
Unless there is a volcano eruption somewhere.
Interesting you brought that a Volcano could cool the World’s climate. In 1991 Mount Pinatubo erupted and temporarily decreased the global temperatures.
Here some information I found : https://getaway.10best.com/12803253/how-many-volcanoes-are-in-the-world
There have been some volcanoes eruptions for the last few months. I wonder if that has some effects why were going to have below temps this summer.
I remember, June 1991 we had frost that damage to the corn crop in South Central Indiana. Going way back to August 1964 we had record cool temperatures in the mid 40’s during the daytime hours all caused by eruptions of volcano’s, but can’t remember where the volcanic activity occurred ?
Here is an overview of the May and Spring 2022 climate summaries for the Chicago area. https://weather.gov/lot/Spring_May_2022_Climate_Summary
While May had above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation, Spring as a whole (March, April, May) had near normal temps and above normal precip.
Our Spring wasn’t too warm are too cool, but a little on the dry side.
