Good Monday, folks. The first full week of June is off and running with the increasing threat for thunderstorms to rumble through. Some of these storms may be strong and put down a ton of rain in the coming days.

We have a cold front dropping into the region from the northwest later today. This will get into the region and slow down over the next few days, leading to rounds of showers and storms rolling across the region. Exactly where this front stalls remains in question and that will be the determining factor on where the corridor of heaviest rain sets up.

Here’s my current thinking…

Local high water issues may show up where this system stalls. That’s something to watch for through Wednesday night and early Thursday.

Some of these storms may also be strong or severe. The Storm Prediction Center has a low end risk for severe storms across the west today…

Temps after today are held to normal and below normal through the end of the week.

By the weekend, here comes another system sweeping in here from the northwest. That brings more showers and storms with it to start the weekend as a massive trough digs into the eastern half of the country…

Much cooler than normal numbers show up during this time with overnight lows back into the 50s.

This cool weather takes us into early next week but the pattern threatens to turn hot later next week into the following weekend. That’s when a heat ridge tries to balloon from the plains into our region…

A pattern like that would suggest true heat and humidity around here. It could also be one to watch for ridge running thunderstorms coming from the northwest. Oh and all those lower heights down in the Gulf suggest the tropics could crank something out.

Let’s do this, summer!

I have my first TV day off since early March unless storms pry me away. 🌩️⚡😒😡 As always, I have you all set to do some storm tracking…
