Good Saturday to one and all. We are heading into the weekend with some gorgeous September weather for the Bluegrass state. This great looking sky will soon be replaced by some showers and storms, but we keep the pleasant temps.
Temps start the day in the 50s with a fair sky and will warm into the upper 70s to low 80s for many. Some clouds will increase as a system drops in from the northwest. That will bring scattered showers and storms in here later tonight through Sunday. You can see his well on the EURO…
This is part of a pattern likely to feature several systems that can bring scattered showers and storms through next week into next weekend.
Thankfully, this doesn’t look like a super-wet pattern like what we’ve seen over the past month, but it is unsettled…

That’s what happens when you have this kind of trough spinning across the eastern half of the country…
That kind of setup keeps temps below normal and I’m here for it.
On that animation, you can see how the trough retrogrades toward the central part of the country. That setup can often open the Gulf up for something tropical that can get pulled northward into our region late month or early September.
Given the historic rains and flooding of the past month, the tropical season really needs to underperform and leave us alone.
Have a great day and take care.
Thanks Chris, This morning’s temperature really has that Fall feel to it. Great weather for those areas that have received tons of rain and are ready to dry out. Other areas that need the rain like Taylor county will have to wait until the next system drops in here from the Northwest.
A system in the Gulf of Mexico does need to be watched for further development ?
Right now at my PWS near Bowling Green, the temperature is 60°F and the dewpoint is 59°F. The overnight low was 57°F! It feels as though it’s been a year since we’ve experienced air this comfortable.
