Good Saturday, folks. With Hurricane Ian making farther much farther north along the South Carolina coast on Friday, it changes just how much of an impact we get into eastern Kentucky. While rain will fall, the heaviest just gives the state a glancing blow.
The best chance for heavy rain is now along the West Virginia border…
Much of central Kentucky now looks to see clouds, but little in the rain department. Here are your radars to follow along…
That’s going to be an incredibly sharp cutoff between the rain and no rain, and even between full sun and full clouds.
That system pulls away on Sunday with the chance for lingering clouds or a shower in the east. This kicks off another gorgeous run of fall weather through the middle of next week. Pleasant afternoons with upper 60s to middle 70s and lows in the 40s.
A strong fall cold front dives in here on Thursday with gusty winds and the chance for a band of showers. The shot of cold air coming behind that is impressive…
You can see how the numbers there are well below normal as we head into next Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There is even the chance for a killing frost of light freeze and the models are showing numbers getting way down there…
Could that mean an end to the growing season?
Make it a great day and take care.
Conditions are tinder dry here in South Central Kentucky, and we’re looking at another week of dry conditions. That next cold front will, in all likelihood, leave little or no precipitation, but as the front approaches, we will see the winds pick up, increasing the fire damage. It would not surprise me to see a Red Flag warning issued, in fact I would welcome it!
Yell, the outlook for some beneficial rain is bleak.
I have vast forest surrounding my log home and I’m very worried about Wildfires in my area of Taylor County. Several years ago in the month of March we had a very warm, windy dry day and by the afternoon a Wildfire broke out on my property I had to call the local Fire Station and they gave up and the State got involved in building a berm to prevent the fire from spreading. Five hours later the fire was contained, but not after burning ten acres of my property. The fire started from a non attended fire. I worry now that if this happens again and way people are these days I won’t received the help I need. They would just let it burn all !!!
I don’t believe the officials will issue any red flag warnings in any part of the state ? It’s too bad that the rain is not going to include the entire state. All we have to look forward to are clouds from the remnants Ian. Woot Woot
Thursday will be the worse day of next week as the forecast calls for temperatures in the 80’s and lots of dry wind ahead of a cold front that may include some Pacific air mixed with some Polar air for the first time this Fall season. The growing season ended with the drought as my lawn is completely brown and the trees are beginning their dormancy.
