Good evening, everyone. Another light rain and light mix maker is rolling into the region as we continue with a very early winter pattern across our part of the world. I’ll take a look at the current system, and I’ll also take a brief look into Thanksgiving week.

My time is limited because I’ve been pulling a Clark W. Griswold on my day off from work…

Here’s a recap of the headlines…

  • Light rain and some light snow pushes in overnight into Tuesday.
  • The best chance for some flakes is across northern Kentucky.
  • I’ve seen similar situations produce a touch of freezing rain at the start, especially in the colder valleys of eastern Kentucky.
  • Once this system passes by, temps drop again as a weak system moves in from the northwest.
  • That produces a few streaks of light snow and snow showers Wednesday into early Thursday. Some light accumulations will be possible.
  • REALLY cold air comes in behind all this for the end of the week into the weekend. There’s a small chance for a clipper type system to impact us during this time.

The GFS continues to be the most enthusiastic with the snow chances early Tuesday across northcentral and northern parts of the state…

The future radar from the Hi Res NAM is more rain than anything…

You can clearly see the snow showers and light snow streaks kicking in behind that on Wednesday. The HRRR shows this as well…

That animation starts at 4am Wednesday and goes through 1pm.

Looking ahead toward Thanksgiving, there’s an increasing chance for a big storm system to develop and roll through here…

See you guys later tonight. Here are your evening rain and mix tracking tools……

Enjoy the evening and take care.
