Good evening, folks. Gusty winds and showers are rolling across the state to kick off the first weekend of December. This is ahead of a push of colder air sweeping in for the rest of the weekend, but my focus is on wet weather coming next week.

Before we get into that, let’s focus on what’s going on out there today. We have gusty winds topping 40mph at times and I’m surprised we don’t have a Wind Advisory for most of the region. Those gusty winds will continue overnight, so take all precautions with those Christmas decorations.

Gusty showers will continue through early Saturday and your regional radars are reporting for duty…

Skies dry quickly from the northwest on Saturday as temps drop all day long. This sets the stage for a seasonably cold day on Sunday with temps ranging from the upper 30s to low 40s with a mix of sun and clouds.

The pattern next week continues to feature a boundary getting in here and slowing down with waves of low pressure rolling along it. That may actually continue into next weekend. The end result would put down a lot of rain in our region down into the Tennessee Valley.

We are actually seeing decent agreement with the GFS and EURO from Monday through the following Monday…

Notice how the final low of the bunch tries to change things up toward the winter look and that’s right on cue to kick off the week of the 12th.

The rain train is worrisome and the rainfall totals next week show why…

Again, we need the cold to go ahead and win the battle! If not, we wait until the following week…

Enjoy the rest of your evening and take care.
