Good afternoon, folks. Heavy rain continues to fall across areas of southern and eastern Kentucky, and we have a lot more left in the take in the coming days. This is part of a very active pattern that leads us into a wintry setup later next week.

Before we get into the rainy part of the program, let’s do a check on temps. The first 5 days of December are behind us, and things turned our slightly colder than normal…

That’s part of what turned into a cold pattern back in the middle of November…

Temps are going to average out in the coming days as the numbers jump with our very wet pattern. This pattern features waves of rain and some thunderstorms targeting the region through the end of the week and into the weekend.

Here’s the area I’m focusing on for some local high water issues…

Some parts of the Greatest Risk have already picked up an inch to an inch and a half of rain through Noon today. Another 1″-4″ will be possible through the weekend, so let’s keep a close eye on those creeks and streams.

There’s even a low-end risk for a few strong storms going up in the west. The SPC even has a Marginal Risk for severe storms…

There’s just a hint of spin that may show up with some of these storms.

Let’s also keep a close eye on your radars as they track the showers and storms…

The system coming into play this weekend continues to show up stronger on the Canadian. In turn, it tugs down colder air behind it and even gives us the chance for a few flakes by Sunday night…

I’m not sold on that idea, but I can see the window of opportunity for that.

A much bigger storm then develops across the Plains and Mississippi Valley Monday and Tuesday. That sweeps eastward with the potential for big winds and strong storms before winter crashes in behind it…

The EURO Ensembles continue to do their thing with the deepening trough developing next week through the week before Christmas…

I will have the latest on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm and with another KWC update this evening. Have a good one and take care.
