Good Wednesday, everybody. As we get ready to flip the calendar from one year to the next, our weather pattern is about to do a big flip of its own. A mild and wet setup continues to take shape as we end 2022 and begin 2023.
Let’s start with the weather out there today. Highs are in the 40s with a 50 possible in the west and south. Say goodbye to the snow on the ground.
The numbers continue to climb over the next few days as our new pattern starts to flex on us. This will send a series of storm systems rolling in from the southwest, bringing rounds of heavy rain and even a few thunderstorms. Say what?!
Here’s the look through next week…
The first system arrives Friday and Saturday with widespread rain and, perhaps, some thunder. Heavy rainfall is a good bet on the final day of the year…
From there, additional systems roll in next week. The one early in the week may spark some pretty good thunderstorms while the one toward the end of the week may try its best to sneak in some winter behind it…

The pattern does go back to winter during the second week of the month and will likely continue through much of the rest of the month. The CFS shows a deep trough developing around the middle of the month…
The Control run of the CFS for the same time…
The new EURO Weeklies are buying the flip back to a winter pattern around week two of the month and continuing into early February. I’m only showing this snow map to illustrate how the Weeklies see a lot of snow chances…
Sign us up and call it a winter. 😜😎
I will have more updates later today. Make it a good one and take care.

Thanks Chris, always sad to see Snow cover leave so early in the Winter. I just hope this Southeast Ridge doesn’t stay too strong and give us a ‘ False Spring ‘ and the Winter freezes returns after plants loose their dormancy. This scenario happens way too often.
