Good Sunday to one and all. As we get set to put the wraps on the first weekend of February, we turn our attention to another active week of weather for our region. Two different systems are on the way, with the second one taking on more of a winter look.
Let’s start with our Sunday and roll forward.
It’s a windy day as a weak cold front passes just to our north and northeast. This will bring some clouds in here as temps spike into the 50-55 degree range for many.
This sets the stage for a Monday that features similar conditions and temps. The west will be a little warmer than the rest as a stronger southwest wind kicks in ahead of our next weathermaker. This is a cold front that drops in late Tuesday and could bring showers in here before the day is finished.
This front slows down as a potent storm system works in along it from the southwest. This brings widespread rain in here for Wednesday and early Thursday…
Colder air comes in behind that system for the end of the week. At the same time, a potent upper level system sweeps in from the west and southwest and that may spawn another storm system that can bring winter weather in here.
The models still differ on the extent of this potential and that’s to be expected in from this time range. They do have some similarities, though. One low pressure works into our region as a seconf low develops to the east…

Go big or go home, Old Man Winter.
I’ll have another update later today. Have a great Sunday and take care.
go home winter.
The second system probably will be another cold rain event.
I am grateful that this week will have some warm days.
I have a growing sense of dread that we will get a nasty stretch of winter that finally empties the deep polar cold just as everything starts to grow, bud, and bloom. It is disheartening to have spring blossom and then get ‘iced’ and destroyed.
