Good Friday, folks. Our big Easter Weekend is here and things are starting out on a rather chilly note. The chill will slowly give way to milder weather with some warm stuff waiting in the wings for later next week.
We are still tracking some lingering showers across the south and southeast. The greatest chance for these showers will be for those counties near the Virginia border. Here are your radars…
Temps are in the 50s for most of the state today. The north and west can make a run at 60 with a ray or two of sun.
Saturday features more in the way of a mix of sun and clouds. After starting things out in the 30s, most areas reach 60-65 by the afternoon. The far south and southeast may struggle to get there because of lingering clouds.
Easter Sunday looks really good. Temps start in the upper 30s for many before warming into the mid and upper 60s with a partly to mostly sunny sky.
Temps continue to climb through next week with temps reaching 80 or better by the middle and end of the week. That’s also when a storm system to our south tries to drift northward into our region with a few showers and storms…

GFS
That almost looks like a tropical system or a hybrid developing in the Gulf. It’s early, but water temps are super warm.
The overall pattern looks to calm down for the middle of the month as a ridge of high pressure tries to spread out across much of the country…
That may turn us drier than normal as well…
That’s a lot of heavy rain just to our south and southeast, so we will need to watch and see if that starts to head back to the north not long after the week above.
Make it a great Friday and take care.
Looks like a nice Easter. I hope we do get some rains. Hills are on fire in places. I wonder if it’s ever snowed here in Kentucky on Easter???? Someone get to researching lol I would like to know that.
I remember snow in Kentucky on easter, but it happened when I was a kid, and it mixed with rain to start off before snowing and partially covering up our hens eggs.
Thanks
Crystal, Here’s some photos of Spring Snowstorms in Kentucky. Doesn’t mention Snows on Easter, but I’ve seen Snow squalls where I grew up in Indiana on Easter Sunday in March 1965.

Thanks Schroeder beautiful pictures.
Hopefully, today the electric will return to my home.
Great to see the weather is moving towards a more docile phase next week.
I wonder it would be a gamble to go ahead and begin to plant.
I wonder if there will be another frost?
I doubt we will see another hard freeze.
Hoping your power returns soon. Hold off planting of annuals and perennials until after May tenth. Hardy shrubs and trees you can plant now. I hope there aren’t anymore hard freezes, but I think a frost is likely in the next few weeks.
I hope your electric gets turned on.
