Awesome Weather To Close August

Good Wednesday, everyone. We have a rather late September like feel as we get set to say goodbye to the month of August. This awesome air is comes as high pressure drops in from Canada as Hurricane Idalia slams into Florida.

Temps today are in the middle 50s to middle 60s across the state. Highs by the afternoon are mainly 75-80 with a very cool northeast wind that really gusts up later today into tonight. That’s bringing even cooler air in here into Thursday. Lows start in the 50-55 range for many with highs again in the 70s for the last day of the month…

Lows for the first morning of September are trending even cooler with the NAM showing some upper 40s…

Highs on Friday reach the low 80s east with mid and upper 80s west.

This sets the stage for a dry and seasonably toasty Labor Day weekend. Highs from 85-90 look common…

Hurricane Idalia is about to make landfall near the Big Bend area of Florida as a major hurricane. Here’s the latest from the National Hurricane Center…

The storm surge is major with Idalia…

Use our exclusive interactive radar to track the hurricane and even pull up live stream videos from hurricane hunters. This will give you a birds eye view of what it’s like to be in this storm…

Idalia will then turn up the coast along the Carolinas and then out into the Atlantic. There’s still a real chance what’s left of this holds together out there for a while and may even circle back toward Florida. Some of the models have been suggesting something like this…

Have a great Wednesday and take care.

How do we get the hurricane hunter video that Chris mentioned?

I got the storm chasers live stream by panning down and clicking on the green glowing car and it will get you to where the Hurricane is about to make landfall I think. Hope this helps.

I kept in touch with my Sister and Brother in Law while they were receiving the outer ( east side ) of Hurricane Idalia bands of very heavy rain and wind. I’m happy to report they came through with minimal damage, but both were very stress out during the event. My Brother in Law said if there is a next time ” we are leaving. ” A big relief for me to. Hoping that this Hurricane doesn’t cause too much damage in the Big Bend area of Florida and the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Schroeder, I am relieved to hear that they made it through with minimal damage, more so that they won’t risk it next time. Idalia is the real deal, and seeing how quickly it intensified is a lesson for us all on how important it is to heed warnings, especially these days where extreme is the watchword.

Thanks Joe. The Hurricane made landfall around Salem, Florida and I was able to get the live stream off of Chris’s storm chasers map. A lot of damage to trees and some structures. Sustained winds above 80 mph and gust to over 100 mph. I’ll make sure the next time they move inland.

Glad to hear they are okay. I was just amazed at all that water and storm surge unreal. I watched it hitting Perry Florida from a you tuber I follow it was something to see live as it came on in. I also used Chris Map and got to the live coverage I really liked using that. Thanks Chris. The power of a hurricane is something to see. Especially one like this one,
