Good Sunday to one and all. We have much milder winds kicking in across the region today as we look toward the week ahead. It’s a week featuring a very busy pattern kicking off for much of the country, including our neck of the woods.

The southwest winds today are mild with the 70s shooting back in here. There’s the chance for a shower or two this afternoon and evening, especially in the west and north.

In case these do go up, your friendly Kentucky Weather radars are reporting for duty…

In the week ahead, we are likely to see a tropical system develop in the Caribbean and get into the Gulf of Mexico. Patty just formed way out in the Atlantic so whatever forms in the Caribbean will be named Rafael…

As I mentioned that system has a chance to get into the Gulf and some of the moisture from it may get drawn northward into our region ahead of a potent storm system next weekend.

Before that gets in here, we have a strong cold front ready to roll in from west to east late Tuesday into Wednesday. This brings gusty winds and widespread showers and thunderstorms. This system may slow down with some lingering into Thursday…

The system next weekend has the chance to pull up some tropical moisture from whatever cranks and gets into the Gulf. There’s also another big system likely to come behind that into the following week…

The AI version of the EURO goes through November 16th and shows a continuation of this very active setup…

Notice some colder air coming in behind that last system with a fairly deep trough trying to show up. This deep trough also shows up on the control run of the EURO Ensembles…

While the pattern isn’t ready to go toward a full blown winter look during this time, don’t be surprised if we get some flake chances during the second half of November.

Make it a great Sunday and take care.
