Good evening, everyone. It’s all eyes on the first taste of winter rolling in here for the second half of the week. This system looks to bring the first flakes of the season and, for some, the first light snowfall of the season.

Before we get to winter, we still have some ugly out there this evening. Areas of rain and drizzle continue to plague parts of central and eastern Kentucky. Here are your radars to follow along…

Temps drop quickly from west to east Wednesday as morning showers give way to some sunshine.

The upper low spins through Thursday into Friday with a surface low spinning around that upper low and arriving in here from the north Thursday night. Ahead of this comes an increasing threat for snow showers  and a few snow squalls on Thursday,

The future radar from the HRRR develops some pretty intense squalls…

Light snow then sweeps in from the north and northwest Thursday evening into early Friday. This is when the best chance for some light, slushy accumulation may show up. Elevated and grassy surfaces may turn white for a time in some areas.

Here’s the area most at risk for some of the light accumulations…

The forecast models continue to be fairly optimistic on some light accumulations with the GFS leading the charge…

Here’s the NAM…

And the EURO…

Wind chills will come way down during this time. Check out the numbers from 7am through 8pm Thursday…

This is a stout first blast of winter for this early in the season.

Temps rebound to normal over the weekend then above normal by Monday as we get set for several big systems to sweep through the area. These are riding on the southern edge of arctic air seeping into the country.

Here’s a look at the EURO with these systems Thanksgiving week into early December…

The Canadian doesn’t go out as far but you can see these systems lining up….

Some early season fun and games can’t be ruled out over the next few weeks.

Enjoy the evening and take care.
