Good Monday, everyone. On this Memorial Day, let’s remember to stop and give thanks to those who serve and have served this great country. Today is also called the unofficial kickoff to summer and it looks like that may actually work out. An extended period of 80s is on the way.
Today will continue to feature the warm air working into the Ohio Valley. This will continue to produce some clouds and the possibility of scattered showers and thunderstorms…
Temps today will range from the high 70s in the east to the 80s in the west.
Those 80s will engulf the state by Tuesday and will hang tough for a while. Highs in the mid to upper 80s will be common for the rest of the week. Throw in more humidity and we will have a nice feel of summer.
It looks like this pattern will stick around into the start of June. But, some of the seasonal models are trying to take on a cooler look. Check out the CFS weeklies…
That would sent the major warmth out to the west as we turn cooler than normal. The same model run for the entire month of June…
As someone who does not like super hot weather… I would take that and run with it.
Take care.
Thanks, Chris. And thank you to all the men and women who are now serving, or have served in our armed forces. A very special and solumn gratitude to those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice. We salute you all and thank you for your service to this nation. God Bless you all, and your families as well. Have a great Memorial Day, everyone.
I was looking at the climate normals just to see what months we should expect the most rain and May, June, and July are the wettest on average. May averages 5.26 inches. And September, and October are the driest, with September being the driest at 2.91 inches. January, February, and August all average about same–around 3.2 inches.
Here’s hoping all of this rain we’ve been getting that has everything so lush and green will hold the temps down this summer!
Mid 80’s temps are very pleasant with dewpoints in the 50’s. 84 right now with a 53 dewpoint in Lexington and a gentle SW breeze of 10-20 MPH. Great day for anything you want to do outside!
You guys can have your cold and snow…this is my kind of weather right now!
Here’s hoping the cooler June actually happens.
Last summer was such a horrid heat wave that most of my summer blooming plants had a less than stellar season.
Between the heat and it simply being too dadblamed hot to stand out there watering during any of the daylight hours the whole season was a big old bust for me. I literally stood outside and watered one night from midnight-2am… in my jammies.
Just hoping for a milder summer so I can enjoy my yard!
