Good afternoon, everyone. We continue to track an arctic front toward Kentucky and it will bring wicked wind chills later tonight and Thursday. This front will also bring a quick-hitting band of snow showers and a few squalls.
Winds are cranking out there today ahead of the front with some areas already topping out around 40mph. These winds continue to howl as the front slams in from the northwest. Temps absolutely tank behind the front with teens in the morning. Gusty winds make it feel much colder with wind chills making a run at 0 or a touch below in the north.
This animation shows the wind chills from 8pm this evening through 9am Thursday…
Yowza.
The Hi Res NAM says those wind chills only recover into the high single digits and low teens. This animation goes from 9am to 8pm…
A few snow showers and flurries show up behind the front later tonight and early Thursday. Here’s the future radar from the Hi Res NAM…
Streaks of light accumulations may show up, especially in the southeast…
I have no changes on the pattern into early next week as one storm system brings rain in late Sunday and Monday with a second system having the chance at becoming a winter weather maker just after that. The GFS is now beginning to see this second system…
I will have the latest on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm with another KWC update this evening. Until then, here are your tracking tools to keep you company…
…
Have a wonderful rest of your day and take care.

Thanks Chris. I like our Snow chances, but not the frigid temperatures and wind chill.
Have a Great Afternoon Everyone !
I agree I want it just cold enough to snow but not below that. I guess we will take what we get. I wonder who will see a white Christmas this year????
