Good afternoon, everyone. Temps are slowly dropping from west to east as a cold front makes its way across the region. This brings a period of light snow behind it with snow showers and a few squalls set to follow a few hours later.
I’m still rolling with my First Call map for the first round of winter weather later tonight and early Wednesday…
The greatest risk for a few inches of snow continues to be in the east and there’s still the chance for a stripe of locally higher totals to show up. This is an Advisory type snowfall in this area.
The latest Canadian model runs have upped the chances for a little more than 2″ in parts of the east as it blows up a pretty good snow band to begin Wednesday. We can also see the snow streaks coming in behind it later tomorrow and tomorrow night..
Snowfall totals from the Canadian family…
The GFS is just a bit east, but is also showing similar totals…
Now you can see why I may have to open up the range a bit in the east.
The Future Radar from the Hi Res NAM shows our band of early day snows and gives you a good look at the snow showers and possible squalls zipping through Wednesday afternoon and night..,
The HRRR is evening indicating the outside chance of a little thundersnow tomorrow afternoon. Check out these lightning streaks…
And just think… Up until 3 or 4 days ago, only the Canadian Model was consistently showing even a flake of snow anywhere in our region.
I’ll have the latest on WKYT starting at 4pm today and then I’ll drop by for another KWC update later on. I leave you with your tracking tools for the day…
…
Have a great day and take care.
Thanks Chris I hope it does bring the cold air with it because I am sitting at 64 here in the east. No advisory has been issued yet. Maybe it will be tonight. Is this a milk and bread snow or no lol?
Crystal, I’ve honestly forgotten what it’s like to have a milk & bread snow in south central Kentucky!
