Good Wednesday, everybody. Showers and thunderstorms will slowly increase today as a moisture rich setup gets started. These storms will tap some juice from a system down in the Gulf of Mexico and that means we will have to watch the heavy rain threat over the next few days.
Showers and storms will ramp up this afternoon and evening as muggy air returns. The setup means locally heavy rainfall will be possible with any boomer that blossoms. Here’s the regional radar to show the storm increase from south to north…
An area of low pressure across the plains will roll eastward into the Ohio Valley Thursday and Friday. That will combine with the moisture coming from the gulf to increase the storm and heavy rain threat. The heavy rain potential may be heightened by the possibility of a tropical system getting going in the eastern Gulf…

The models continue to forecast a rather late summer or early fall setup with this system and the one across our region hooking up…
That’s a nice shot of cooler air blowing in behind that east coast merger. That should set the stage for a nice ending to the weekend before another system moves in for early next week…![]()
Summer is overrated, anyway. 😉
Have a good day and take care.

At least the weekend looks nice! 70’s for highs with sun replacing rain.
Looks like some t-showers are on the doorstep of the Nashville area. A few spotty lightning strikes showing up. Guess I’d better double check that my work data is saved.
If this stuff holds together, parts of south central Kentucky may be next such as Tomkinsville and then perhaps Monticello and Somerset.
Hi, Chris,
I just wanted to thank you for all you do to keep us up on the weather. My family and I always check out your site every day to see what’s going on because we know you’re accurate and also that you care about your viewership.
Take care and thanks again. May the Lord bless and keep you and your loved ones.
Sincerely,
Jim Grayson
Thanks, Chris. Glad to know the weekend is going to be nice. OR at least it looks that way now. 😉
Don’t mind a little noise today. Celebrating 37 years of marriage, and that calls for light shows and noise! (As long as they don’t go severe.) 🙂
Have a great Wednesday, everyone! Chris, thank you for all you do to keep us updated and let us know what is coming. Words can never express how appreciated you are. Thank you.
Happy anniversary coffee lady!!! I just celebrated 20 years. Hope I make it to 37.:)
Radar looks like most of today’s rain headed for southeast KY, could use some here in Frankfort, .50 inch in the last 3 weeks believe it or not, yard starting to brown a bit!
Summer is not overrated.
The rain missed us again…. Trend? The stuff for tomorrow & Friday seems to say no.
