Good Saturday to one and all. Our weekend is off and running on a fairly nice weather note with some sunshine and pleasant temperatures. That good stuff will carry us into early Sunday before things begin to turn active once again. That trend will carry us into much of next week with a few more systems moving in.
Today’s weather will feature a mix of sun and clouds with an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Temps will be in the upper 70s to around 80.
Sunday will be mostly dry with an increase in clouds and winds. This is ahead of a cold front swinging in from the northwest and will arrive by Monday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will increase during this time and a few could be strong.
The European Model shows a wound up system…
Another system looks to roll in here for the second half of the week…
That will bring another cold front and rounds of storms our way. That pattern may persist for the next few weeks as the hot weather remains to our west and southwest. At the same time, a dip in the jet stream looks semi-permanent across the eastern part of the country. That should mean additional thunderstorm clusters rolling in from the northwest…![]()
Make it a great Saturday and take care.
Ah. The ol’ ring of fire pattern. I guess summer is officially here.
Thanks Chris. Looking like a pretty good day today. Are you saying these systems are going to make for a constant clouds and rain or are we talking scattered? In any event we will just have to grin and bear it as whatever comes, comes. Maybe not as bad as it looks right now. Have a great Saturday, everyone.
What caused the big rain misses for the past two weeks? Appears to be a rinse and repeat from last year, except it was a lot warmer then.
my guess is:
first event the clouds from the west entered our area during the morning preventing storms from popping.
second event huge storms south of here drew energy away from our area?
Incidentally – when did you start posting in the spring/summer? What changed?
Pontificating in winter got boring I guess. 😀
I am all about trends. That is my thang’.
A couple showers dodged my hood again in east Frankfort, ugly looking day so far, clouds and no rain this time of year sucks!
With the exception of the incredible heat, this summer is looking a lot like last year in that the predicted rains never materialize. I’ve had one 20 minute downpour in the past two weeks and I’ve had to start watering, something I don’t like to do in June. Really could use a good soaking.
I hear ya, the rain keeps being forecast but nothing is verifying lately, today seems to be more humid than forecast a few days ago also, not taking shots at Chris but over all bust lately in all forecast seems to be the rule??
Well, we certainly haven’t missed the rain in the far west, Purchase Area. I’ve received close to 8 inches, spread over the past 30 days in Calloway County. The bulk of our tobacco crop was just set in the past week.
