Good Sunday, everyone. We have an increase in temps, humidity and storms chances on our weather menu as we close out the weekend. The storm threat will really ramp up late today and tonight as a cold front works our way. A few of the storms may be strong or severe… especially in the west.
I will get to your tracking toys in a bit. Right now… let’s break down the next several days:
– Temps will hit the 80s today under a partly sunny sky. Scattered showers and storms will develop during the afternoon hours. These will become more widespread this evening and overnight as the front nears.
– Some of the storms may be on the strong side. The greatest threat for severe weather will be across the western half of the state. All storms that blow up through Monday will have heavy rain and frequent lightning.
– The storms will slowly wind down from west to east later Monday into Monday night.
– This will set us up for better weather for Tuesday as a surge of heat tries to make a run at us. A slightly slower movement of the next front means Wednesday has a shot to be hot. 90 for some?
– That next front brings more storms our way by Wednesday night and Thursday and will knock our temps back down by the end of the week into next weekend.
Let’s get to tracking today’s action…
Have a good one and take care.

Good Sunday morning to all. Yesterday. Was San absolutely beautiful day here, and today looks good too. We could use a bit of rain so I won’t be upset if we get a little. Don’t even mind a little thunder and lightning as long as it doesn’t get too strong. Thanks, Chris for all the things you do for your followers. Will be keeping an eye on the blog and twitter for your updates. Have a great Sunday, everyone.
Looks like western Ky. about to get some action right now.
Yep, there were t-showers a while ago here in the Nashville area. Bowling Green KY about to get wet.
Even more action coming from Mississippi and Alabama.
As Chris mentioned, western KY has a chance for severe wx. Ditto western TN.
Storm Prediction Center currently has a slight risk of severe wx for western KY/TN. Strong damaging winds will be the main player (large hail a lessor player, isolated twisters lessor still).
I see we could hit 90 by Wednesday, to hot for my taste, should be short lived heat hopefully, Bring on the rain! Thanks for the updates Chris!
I see the predictable dry slot has taken hold from Louisville to Frankfort.
The rain is very heavy in Burgin.
Looks like a nice little pipeline has developed from Nashville towards central Kentucky.
That pipeline is to Far East to help Frankforts dry spell!
The trend continues…lots of promise but nothing materializes. Might have gotten about 20 drops of rain but that’s debatable.
A few drops of rain in Frankfort, while east of I-75 1 to 2 inch rains, looks like the pattern from last summer developing again in parts of KY, no major heat yet to go with it but that will change if the rains keep missing!
As Chris just tweeted, the SPC now considering a watch (most likely a severe t-storm watch) for far western KY/TN.
SPC predicting a 60% chance of a watch becoming reality.
Also, SPC now has a new area (eastern KY/TN) under a slight risk for severe wx, separate from the original area (western KY/TN, which remains under a slight risk). Still mainly strong damaging winds, some hail. Low twister chances.
And sure enough, a brand new severe t-storm watch just out for western KY/southern Illinois.
I’m sure tonights west KY storms will fade as they approach Frankfort area later!
