Good evening, everyone. Light snow and flurries will increase tonight and Wednesday as we turn our attention to the next winter storm. My confidence level with this storm is increasing with several inches of snow a good bet in our region.

Here’s a breakdown of the pattern ahead…

The light snows tonight and Wednesday will be more prominent across central and eastern parts of the state. That’s where coatings up to 1″ of snow will be possible…

The Hi Res NAM is giving us the best view of these light accumulations…

From there, it’s all about our Winter Storm THREAT for Friday and Saturday. Much of Kentucky is in the line of fire for the potential of 4″ or more of snow from this…

This storm is all snow across Kentucky, so we aren’t worried about precipitation types this go round. The only question is… how much? This is one of those setups that actually has the chance to come a little farther north than the models suggest.

As of right now, all the models have a pretty good hit for Kentucky.

The EURO is trending stronger and farther north and west with the system from earlier runs…

The GFS has had a good signature all along and continues to do so…

The Short Range Canadian Model also has a good look at the first part of this storm…

This is a storm that will shut parts of the deep south from Texas to the Carolinas. Check out the snowfall totals from the models…

I’ll see you guys back here tonight for the full update. Until then, I have your tracking tools including our Kentucky Weather Cams to watch the flakes flying across different parts of the state…

Enjoy the evening and take care.
