Good evening, folks. We are putting the wraps on a really nice weather day across Kentucky as our temps slowly start to climb. There is one small disturbance in the force as a light snow maker zips across southern and southeastern Kentucky Sunday night and early Monday.

This is a system that was showing up much stronger several days ago, then it went away. The compromise is to bring this back in lighter form with only the southern half of the state getting in on the potential for light snow.

Check out how fast this thing moves through…

Hi Res NAM…

A little bit of slush may even show up with this one early Monday.

Temps jump up after this rolls through with more snow melt for Tuesday into early Wednesday. Another shot of seasonably cold air dives in by Wednesday night and Thursday and that may bring some flurries and snow showers along for the ride.

February starts on Saturday and I’m already on record with what I think will be a super active month that features well above normal precipitation. That will come in the form of heavy rain and strong storms and, occasionally, heavy snow. It all depends on the individual storm tracks.

The operational models are now locking in on this active month with several storm systems set to impact us through the first week and change of the month.

The EURO has these systems as heavy rain makers with the chance for some pretty good thunderstorms and wind…

The EURO will struggle with these lows as the model bias is to hang on to too much energy coming in from the southwest.

The GFS sees these systems but is a bit farther southeast with their tracks…

February will bring a lot of different weather to our region with the potential for more extremes, especially with precipitation.

Enjoy the evening and take care.
