Good evening, everyone. It’s another awesome weather day wrapping up across Kentucky as we turn our attention to a big storm system blowing in for the next few days. This brings a lot of rain our way and it may be enough to cause high water issues.
Rounds of heavy rain roll into the region from southwest to northeast on Thursday. That takes us into the start of Friday with a general 1″-3″ of rain for just about all of Kentucky…
A Flood Watch has already been issued across western Kentucky and this could very well get expanded into much of the rest of the state…
The Weather Prediction Center has the expanding risk for excessive rainfall across our part of the world…
The forecast models are pretty amped up and show why I think the Flood Watch should be expanded across the rest of the state. Here’s the latest from the GFS…
The EURO has always been lighter with amounts, but it’s edging up…
As expected, the NAM shifted a few hundred miles farther to the south and still has some work to do…
Friday should actually turn into a pretty good day for a while with sunshine and 60 degree temps breaking out from late morning into the afternoon before clouds and showers return from the northwest late.
Temps drop into the 40s behind this system on Saturday, but we are in store for a big surge in temps with 60 or better into the first half of next week. That’s ahead of a pattern change that brings winter back into the region slowly, but surely.
We will see several systems impact our region starting late next week into the following week with winter weather showing up at some point, but the models are still trying to figure all that out.
The latest EURO is seeing the winter potential…
Regardless of precipitation types, the next two weeks are loaded with precipitation. The GFS Ensembles show some big time numbers…
The GFS Ensembles are also beginning to see some of the snow potential…
Old Man Winter isn’t close to being done with us and I’ll focus on that later tonight.
Enjoy the rest of the pleasant evening and take care.
