Good Thursday everyone. It has been a busy past few days with rounds of snow across much of the region. Overnight snow showers and squalls put down some fresh accumulations for some across central and eastern Kentucky.

We will still see some slick travel across parts of the area so be cautious when driving early today. Some very light snows and flurries will be with us to start things out before the flakes give it up for this go around.

Saying goodbye can be a hard thing for many to do, so just use the radar to wave bye bye to the snows for now…

Highs today return to the 20s as some rays of sun make an appearance for the first time in a while… especially for the central and western parts of the state.

Friday will be a pretty good weather day with temps back into the 30s under mostly sunny skies. This is how our weekend starts… but the big question is how will it end? A clipper will be moving across the Great Lakes and may bring a period of some light snow into the region late Saturday and Sunday.

A second storm will then drop quickly in behind the departing clipper by Monday. This low will dive across the Ohio Valley and should be met by another wave of low pressure coming up the western slopes of the Appalachian Mountains. To be honest… every model shows a different evolution of this whole setup and they change from run to run. Those changes can have a big difference in the actual weather around here and I suspect it won’t be until later Friday we see them converging on a solution.

Snow, rain or a mix of the two would be possible early next week. Just for kicks… here is the latest run of the GFS…

That will change later today… but I had to have a map to show you guys.

Whatever happens from this system early next week… keep an eye on what drops in behind it for the middle and end of the week.  That is a possible big deal storm for much of the eastern half of the country.. barring the early week one doesn’t blow up. Any storm that really cranks up next week can cause the arctic air filling Canada to spill in across much of the country.

I will have more updates later today so check back. Have a great Thursday and take care.
