Good Monday, everybody. Hot and humid air continues to surge into central and eastern Kentucky today and this will take up most of the week in weather. This does not look like the beginning of an extended period of steamy weather, but should give us the hottest air of the summer.
Here’s how the week shakes out…
That pattern begins to break down by Friday as a dip in the jet stream dives into the eastern part of the country. That will set us up for clusters of showers and storms…
A deeper trough is likely to develop as we head into early next week. The European Model shows a pretty cool air mass diving into the country…
If you’re a fan of hot and humid… soak up what mother nature is giving you this week.
Make it a great Monday and take care.
Such a strange summer. I wonder what in store for us this Fall/Winter.
Boring weather our fall/winter are nothing but boring don’t care just keep the tornadoes away and I will be fine…..
Well, last year was dubbed the year of extremes, and so what are we going to call this one? Thanks, Chris, for always being there for us. This weather we have had has just been crazy! This week is actually going to feel like summer….complete with afternoon pop ups, so that is more typical of July. Have a great Monday, everyone!
Don’t see this often. At noon Lexington is the warmest official reporting station in Central Kentucky at 86. SDF is only 85.
In addition to this, interesting that Lexington’s all time high is 108 verses Louisville’s mere 107. All this considering that Lexington (at around 1000 feet above sea level) is several hundred feet higher in elevation than Louisville. Also, the Lexington airport has somewhat less surrounding development than the two Louisville airports so less heat island effect to influence the temperatures.
BTW, the all time record highs for Cincinnati and Nashville are 111 and 109 respectively, and the elevations of these two cities are more similar to Louisville than Lexington
Just a great week for the a.c. at my office to go out. Not just out, but kaput. Has to be replaced and its a large commercial unit. Not enjoying.
