Good Tuesday, folks. Hot and humid air has invaded the bluegrass state and will hang around for the next several days. Low 90s will be as bad as it gets for many areas and in the overall scheme of things… ain’t so bad. High humidity levels will make it feel even hotter.
Our wet ground and lush vegetation is playing a big role in keeping thermometers from taking off. Afternoon clouds will develop and some of those will grow into showers and thunderstorms. Isolated stuff will be possible this afternoon with a much better chance showing up on Wednesday.
The Hi-Res NAM shows the storms increasing from the southeast…
Any storm that blows up will be strong and put down a lot of water. A similar setup will be around for Thursday into Friday as our pattern states to change.
A cold front will dive in here from the north and northwest by Saturday…
Widespread showers and thunderstorms will be around Saturday into Sunday and some may be strong or severe. The air behind that front is much cooler than normal…
That means we get in on some much cooler air from Saturday through Monday, at least.
Have a terrific Tuesday and take care.
Five maybe six degrees cooler and less humid for Sunday and Monday but that might be short lived as signs point to another decent shot of heat and humidity building by Tuesday of next week. Fronts this time of year have a real hard time of any substantial real cool snaps lasting for very long. The front that comes through this weekend will washout on the Ky/Tenn border.
Glad to be taking a vacation here in Gatlinburg, TN, only several degrees cooler than Lex. Went up to the mountains yesterday and it was a chilly 55°F at 3pm, it was also windy which made it COLD! It was also foggy at times (which were clouds from a view in the valley.) It’s an awesome relief from the heat in the middle of July.
Humid air has really increased tonight, tomorrow will probably be one of the hottest days of the summer, yuk
