Happy hump day, folks. The middle of the week of weather features a cold front moving across the bluegrass state and this will bring us a better brand of air. The next few days will feel a lot like the middle of September. This new brand of air will be reinforced by another cold front that arrives over the weekend.
Our day will start with some clouds and spotty showers and storms… especially in the south and east. Cooler and drier air will slowly win the battle from north to south as skies clear and humidity levels drop. Temps today will be in the upper 70s to low 80s.
Thursday starts with some mid and upper 50s and ends with highs in the low 80s. Skies will continue to run on the partly sunny side of things.
Friday will see readings back into the low and mid 80s with a little more humidity and a slight chance for a scattered shower or thunderstorm.
Our next cold front swings in here later Saturday with a broken line of showers and thunderstorms…
The air behind that front is likely to be just a bit cooler than what we have over the next few days. The GFS Ensembles show we are not alone in dealing with the cooler than normal air over the next week…
Will this pattern continue into August? The CFS monthly forecast thinks so…
Make it a great day and take care.
50s dewpoints rolling across the Ohio River and heading our way.
I believe that deserves an emphatic Randy Savage “YEEAAHH!”
white wooly worm i see them all the time what this meen for us.
Storms were unreal last night. I lightning was more than I experienced in FL! It crazy how the 7 day forecast in Lex doesn’t even have temps above 83°F in July!
I love it.
The cooler, less humid air is even trying to filter down to here in north central Tennessee. Indeed, I and other co-workers had a nice lunch in our outdoor picnic area. Despite the cloudy skies and the ants, the otherwise comfortable conditions were appreciated.
Meanwhile, tropical storm Dorian has formed off the coast of Africa. Not too much strengthening is expected in the early going due to some nearby drier air and too much shear. But the National Hurricane Center has it tracking to near Puerto Rico by early next week. Time will tell what it does after that.
Windows open today, hope it stays like this until September, then bring on the 60s 🙂
53 is the record low in Lexington for tomorrow morning. Forecast into the Mid 50’s–getting close.
This is now the 5th wettest July on record as well.
With the rest of July and all of August to go we need about 1.4 inches of rain to crack the Top 10 wettest summers on record.
