Good Friday to one and all. Our run of late September weather will get a serious boost this weekend as another cold front swings into the state. This next front will introduce even cooler air to our part of the world and we may even see record low temps.
Let’s start with today’s weather. Highs will reach 80-85 degrees under mainly sunny skies as a touch more humidity enters the picture. Clouds will increase on Friday night as our cold front moves closer to the state.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will increase on Saturday as the front passes through. Winds will gust up and temps will likely stay around 80 or below. The air behind this boundary is very impressive…
Just how cool is that air? The GFS shows record lows going down…
Morning lows will be down into the low and mid 50s and some outlying areas may see upper 40s. Wow! Highs will be in the 70s for Sunday and Monday.
The fall temps will slowly give way to showers and storms moving in by late Tuesday into Wednesday. The European Model shows a hefty thunderstorm complex moving through…
That’s on the nose of some warmer air moving in for the middle and end of next week. By warmer… I mean temps in the 80s.
Have a great Friday and take care.
so far this has been the “summer without a summer” season…….i know we still have aug. and september to go through but as far as any major sustained heat waves, you can forget about it…….let us hope now that we don’t have a abnormally dry fall and abnormally warm fall…..only time will tell and of course the always reliable and talented mr. “cb” chris bailey himself will be all over it before it even happens…….thanks for reading and god bless.
40’s in July are somewhat rare in Lexington. 47 is the record low for the month–it has happened 3 times. I say if it is going to be this cool, let’s go for it!
Madison Co. Mesonet station recorded a low of 55 for today, the record low temp for Lex is 53 for this date (no idea for Madison), so last night came pretty close.
The weather sets up a dilemma for those with large yards though…”it’s so nice now, I can finally get some work done outside!” gives ways to “it’s too nice outside to waste it on yard work!”
Something happening only 3 times is a little bit more than “somewhat rare”. 😉
Can’t believe how inaccurate the official weather gauge at Lexington is. As of 1000 Lexington is reporting “light rain.”! Really? Someone tell me where this rain is–i’d love to go the the airport and see it!
Wow! The way this is going, we’ll have snow in early October! Bring on the fall-like weather. Today is my birthday & this is the first year in many that I haven’t seen rain on my birthday — just gorgeous blue skies & abnormally cool temperatures. LOVE IT!
Happy birthday!
It’s my birthday, too! Have a great one! 🙂
Frankfort set a record low of 55 this morning, old record was 56, sounds like more records might go down Monday morning, gotta love record lows in July! Now lets Hope for a few of those in January 🙂
Todd–the record is actually 50 in 1911. Don’t trust the weather channel when it comes to records. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/images/lmk/frankfort_cli_pdf/July_Records_Frankfort.pdf
