That would be a heck of a way for many cities to crash the top 10 wettest summers on record. That would also ensure a cooler than normal month as the real heat never actually gets into the state.
We’re getting to the time of year we start to look ahead at the upcoming fall and winter. It’s still way too far out to get a decent handle on how things will set up, but I’m looking back and similar years to this one and checking on how those winters played out. I will share some of that with you in the coming days and weeks.
That said… we can still look ahead and have a little fun. The CFS forecast for Thanksgiving Day is showing a cold turkey for much of the eastern half of the country…
Heck, that would even have some flakes flying around here. Of course, that map and 20 dollars will get you a cup of coffee nowadays. 🙂
Have a great Sunday and take care.
Thanks, Chris. We got lightning and a little thunder last night but no sign of rain. Guess that cluster of storms in western KY really wrung out every last drop of moisture. This has been one unusual spring and summer, for sure. Hope we have a more normal fall and winter. Enjoy what we have though. Sounds nice for the next couple of days. Have a great Sunday, everyone!
Why do mets (or anyone) imply that one season is predictive of another? If that were true, we’d be locked into one perpetual unchanging cycle. Does the summer predict the winter? Does the winter predict the summer? This makes no sense.
Agree with you on that, weather is to random with many complicated factors to just try to base it on a past years pattern!
I said that with a comment a few days ago. “It’s impossible to look at past data with a pattern that has been similar to ours and jump to the future of that year to see what ours will be like.” It’s very inaccurate and misleading.
We got drowned in Sadieville Sat. nite – didn’t wake us up, so must not have been any thunder/lightning, but everything was SOAKED this AM.
It was very humid last night, but we remained dry as the rain stayed just to our east. When we woke up this morning, it was evident the front had moved through as the dewpoint was much lower.
BTW, are you a biologist?! (per your ‘evodevo’ handle)
I don’t ever remember a summer like this…can u Chris tell us please when there was one like this and what the winter was like…u have me curious now….!
