Good Saturday and welcome to the last weekend of August. We have some good looking weather taking shape out there today and Sunday. That’s the good news part of the show. The bad news is that hot weather will make a run at us next week. While everybody else is busy hyping the heat… I’m watching for the possibility of storms to steal their thunder. 🙂
Temps today will range from the 80-85 degree range for most areas. Humidity levels will be down a bit compared to the past several days and our skies will be on the sunny side of life. A similar setup will be with us for Sunday with temps up a degree or two above what we have today.
The threat for a shower or storm will return by Monday as temps hit the mid and upper 80s. The big heat ridge across the plains will continue slowly build in from the west, but the core will stay well west of here. This will put the western part of the state in the hottest are with 90-95. Central and eastern parts of the state will be close to 90 on any given day.
The setup will also bring rounds of storms diving in from the northwest. The models are really beginning to hit this pretty hard. The GFS rainfall forecast for the next week shows where these clusters of storms may roam…
We will have to watch that setup as it can produce some big time storm clusters. Will Kentucky be in the line of fire for the main action? We will have to wait and see.
The extended models continue to point toward the first week of September for a change toward cooler…
Have a great Saturday and take care.
None?
I hope Chris nails the storm chances, all other mets are saying very little chance of rain all week, very dry in my hood lately!
Todd, you can have all the rain you want. In fact, put in a pipe from Frankfort to here to irrigate your yard 🙂 I’ve had over 8 inches here in Lawrenceburg in the month of August. That followed 9 inches in July and 7 inches in June. I’m mowing every 4-5 days and no sign of it slowing down. I’d love a week of dry weather!
That is wild we have had 2.5 inches in August and all of that fell between August 8th and the 12th, a trace since the 12th, we are about 15 miles or so apart, it just goes to show how random rain can be in the summer!.
It is wild. And parts of Western Anderson County have actually had about double what I’ve had in August!!
Haha, I liked how CB said “and our skies will be on the sunny side of life.” Anyways, this looks like the last of major summer heat across most of the country for the next week or so. Looking forward to that very cold front that has temps back in the 70’s that occurs in September.
Oh, and if anyone would like to see the International Space Station with 2 opportunities tonight and again tomorrow here a link. http://tinyurl.com/m37k785
