Good Tuesday, everyone. The month of October is off and running on a rather mild note across the commonwealth of Kentucky. This mild trend will carry us through the rest of the week, but some big changes are looming as we head into the weekend.
Highs today into Wednesday will be in the mid and upper 70s for many areas. A tad more humidity will be into the mix and that can help fuel a shower or thunderstorm. If it’s out there, it will show up on regional radar…
The chance for a few showers and storms will increase for Thursday as moisture moves in from the southwest. The NAM shows this well…
Friday will see us getting back to only a scattered shower or thunderstorm with highs in the upper 70s. A big change will work in over the weekend with a strong cold front moving into the state. The models are slowing this system down and developing a secondary low that impacts our weather. Here’s the European Model…
That could deliver a prolonged period of rain and wind with only a modest cool down coming in behind it. That same European Model shows another cold shot lurking into next week…

Hey Chris when will your winter forecast be out?
I second that!
Even before winter gets here, ready for cooldown. Love the chill, the smell of firewood in the air.
September was fairly dry most of ky has ended up below normal on rain, hopefully we get more in October, fire danger is increasing and dry leaves falling wont help!
Looks like 80 for the official high in Lexington the first day of October. Maybe a few more this week.
Not that unusual to see 80 degree weather in October. Here are the totals for the past ten years:
