Good Thursday, my little weather weenies. October is featuring a touch of early September feeling air with high humidity levels, warm temps and some scattered showers and storms. That trend will carry us through the rest of the week and into the start of the weekend. That’s when we will focus on a more potent setup.
In the short term… scattered showers and storms will dance about the sky today. Not everyone gets in on the act, but some locally heavy rain will be possible for those who do. Here’s regional radar…
Temps today will flirt with 80 for those who miss out on the rain, and will be in the mid 70s for those who get some drops.
There is still the chance for a shower or thunderstorm on Friday, but those shouldn’t be as prominent as what we have today. Highs will be around 80.
The weekend setup is rather complex. We have a huge storm across the plains states that will produce a snowstorm in the upper plains. That storm heads toward the Great Lakes and will drag a cold front in here late Saturday and Early Sunday.
As that is happening… a tropical system is likely to be working across the northern Gulf of Mexico. Many of the models are trying to tap some of that moisture. You can see that showing up well on the NAM…
How those two hookup will mean all the difference in the world on our weather for Sunday and Monday.
Have a great day and take care.

u smell that?????????????/ a OLD SCHOOL WINTER A COMINBG!!!
And then you change your mind 10 minutes later.
Hello, Karen. Watch out, panhandle.
Thanks, Chris. We haven’t had a lot of rain here of late, so a little would be welcomed, since fall fire season has just started. On the other hand, isn’t it a bit early for the first snowstorm of the year? even in the Northwest, October 4-5 seems a bit soon. Wonder what that might mean for the rest of us in the upcoming winter season….Hmmmm……
Have a great day, everyone.
the NAM looks like a big question mark to me and that is pretty much how weather forecasting in EKY looks to me too.
