Good Monday, folks. We have arrived at the week of massive weather changed across North America. These changes will have a huge impact on our weather as we have a cold pattern taking shape. This will likely deliver frost and freezing conditions to us within the next week to 10 days.
Our streak of great fall weather is over after today. Highs will be back into the 70s with a partly sunny sky. Scattered showers and storms return to our picture Tuesday as a cold front works our way from the west.
This front will cause showers and storms to increase Tuesday night and Wednesday as it moves from west to east across the state. Wednesday’s temps will be cool with readings in the low 60s for highs. The front will work just to our east on Thursday as even colder air works in. That’s when a wave of low pressure develops along the front and throws showers our way…
Temps in the low and mid 50s for highs Thursday will be a good bet with clouds and showers. A little bit of sun and you get to around 60. Some upper 30s will be possible for Thursday and Friday mornings if skies clear for a bit.
The next shot of cold arrives Friday night and Saturday with some showers and this will be even colder than the one later this week. Lows by Sunday morning may drop into the upper 20s and low 30s…
Another blast of cold air is targeted to arrive early next week. Check out each shot of cold is colder than the one before…
There is a tremendous amount of blocking showing up as we roll through the next few weeks. Is that the winter pattern tipping its hand? Hmmm
Have a great day and take care.
Im no professional here, but it doesnt look like it gets much colder than the first cold shot here… I agree there is a lot of cold air filling in over the next week, but judging by the colors on the map, its all staying north of us for the most part, correct?
Your the best Chris. I asked for temperature ranges on the maps and you delivered. I really appreciate that. Have a great day!
Chris, are you concerned about the lack of moisture we have now? Seem to have dried out since summer. 🙁
Where are you located? October has been one of the wettest on record in Louisville and Lexington.
Exactly. Some areas of KY and TN got relatively little rain in Sept and early Oct, others are much above normal.
October is normally the driest month of the year for KY/TN.
I understand KY has had record rain, but where I’m at, lately you can’t BUY a drop! I’m in Nicholasville, just a few miles south of Lexington. It’s been dry here, compared to what it was is all I am saying.
Hey Chris, just wanted to say I’m a daily reader of your blog especially in the winter! But I was wondering when your 2013-14 Winter Forecast will be out? Thanks for everything. 🙂
Yeah. I want to know this one too…
If he puts one out its usually around Thanksgiving
The fall colors are finally starting to appear in the Nashville TN area. Hope the upcoming cold front won’t blow too many of the leaves down.
Speaking of weather, WKU football has a home football game coming up – an unusual Tuesday evening date. With any luck, the game will be over before most of the storms arrive. But might be a close call. Lightning delays not out of the question. Otherwise, ponchos may come in very handy for fans ;).
na the next 2 months will be nasty, but by mid dec into Jan u see MILDER weather return just in time for winter. if we get NOVEMMEMBER into early Dec set up all winter then we be LOCKED and LOADED.
Typical Rolo…..
Thanks, Chris. Guess it is time to drag out some of the long sleeved duds, and have them ready. I know this beautiful weather was too good to last very long, but I sure have enjoyed it while it has been here! Maybe winter IS giving us a clue as to its thoughts. Guess we will just have to wait and see. Have a great day, everyone. And thanks again, Chris.
