Good Sunday, weather peeps. Our chilly weather rolls on across the bluegrass state as we wrap up the last weekend of October. Temps continue to run below normal, but a bit of a mild up is on the way over the next few days. This will be muted by an increasing threat for rain as a storm system moves in to wrap up the month.

Highs today will hit the low to mid 50s for most areas with a mix of sun and clouds. Moisture starts to increase overnight into Monday as we have a nice little battle going on in the atmosphere. Cold air will be flooding into the northern states as the south and southwest begin to warm. We find ourselves in between these two on Monday and that spells the threat for a few showers…

NAM 1The best threat for showers will be across the southern half of the state. If we can get enough clouds and showers to develop, it would keep our temps from reaching 60 degrees. When we start seeing models showing rain at the start of a mild up… it often means that mild up is short lived and less than advertised.

That said… milder air moves in for Tuesday and Wednesday as temps soar well into the 60s. A few 70 degree readings will be possible for some on a gusty southwesterly wind that cranks ahead of a big storm in the plains. This will throw a few showers and storms our way Tuesday and Wednesday.

The main action arrives with the cold front on Thursday and will make for a windy and wet Halloween…

GFS

Leftover showers will exit the state early Friday morning as much cooler air works in from the northwest. This sets the stage for a more pronounced dip in the jet stream by Saturday and Sunday…

EuroThat’s a shot of cold air diving in here. The European Model is showing the possibility of some rain and snow showers around here…

Euro 2That’s a nice shot of cold showing up on that model run and would take us into the first week of November…Euro 3We will see how that all works out in the coming days.

Have a good one and take care.
