A Calmer Start to the First Full Week of August

Good Monday, everyone. Our slow-low is pulling away to our east, but will leave enough low-level juice for some scattered stuff over the next few days. A more unsettled look shows up later this week and weekend a few systems drop in.

Temps out there today will generally hit the upper 70s and low 80s for many with a mix of sun and clouds. A shower or storm will still spin across the east and southeast.

While temps climb closer to normal on Tuesday, the potential for a few more showers and storms showing up throughout the week will keep the overall temps averaging below normal through Friday.

The models are in pretty good agreement on this…

In terms of the showers and storms, this stuff is mainly confined to the southeast through Tuesday. This action balloons a little farther west on Wednesday ahead of the aforementioned systems dropping in late week into the weekend.

That brings an increase in scattered showers and storms and this shows up well on the GFS from Tuesday evening through Sunday…

The GFS AI continues to paint a rather stormy portrait through the middle of the month with impressive rainfall totals…

As always, I leave you with your daily storm tracking toys…

The models will bust on rainfall. Bring on the heat wave. 🙂

Thanks Chris. My two cents weather outlook for August : ) Temperatures near to slightly above normal, and rainfall will be near normal overall, but distributed unevenly. Also, don’t expect any prolonged drought or record – breaking heat. Not the most likely outcome at this time.

Fall 2026: ) a 7/10 confidence for a warm start transitioning to a wetter, more active late Autumn.

Winter 2026-7: ) a 6/10 confidence for an active Winter with near to above normal precipitation and at least one good opportunity for a significant Ice or Snow event. Hope it’s all Snow !

Take all of the above with a huge grain of salt !

Same ole pattern that we been having all summer. Ugh

We are in a Solar cycle that causes the weather we are having. How long will it last is anyone’s guess.

Winterlover : Are you old enough to remember the Winter 1969 – 70 ? Up in South Central Indiana we had training Snowstorms that keep Snow on the ground from December to late March. Best Winter for Snow that I can remember.
