Good afternoon, folks. There’s not a whole lot to update as the severe weather threat continues across the state into the overnight hours. The flooding threat is being realized across western parts of the state and widespread flood conditions are possible there.
A line of thunderstorms developing to the southwest of Kentucky will continue to roll northeastward this evening and overnight. Damaging wind will be the main threat with this line as it races northeastward. Isolated tornadoes are also possible… especially across southern parts of the state.
Winds will continue to gust to 40mph or higher and that’s without thunderstorms.
Let’s get back to tracking…
Rainfall

Current temperatures

Winds

Take care.

Thanks Chris
Wow, it is actually a little humid outside, crazy KY weather, looks like the heavy rain is making little progress eastward so far!
I’ve hit 71 in Lawrenceburg so far–and humid! My heat is set on 68 and the thermostat is showing it is 72 in the house. Unreal for this time of year.
I can do without the tornados and flooding. Thanks CB for the heads up. Everyone be careful out there.
TWC has a 6 Tor con for KY this evening and tonight. Does this mean we’re going to get a lot of tornadoes? -_-
That means there is a 50% chance of a tornado within 50 miles of you. It doesn’t nessecarily mean there will be a lot of tornados, but the chance for a spin up is definately there. High winds is probably more of a threat.
60% chance. Sorry about that.
I wonder what the stats are on the TorCon? How reliable is it? 60% chance is quite high. I don’t buy it.
I’m not really sure, it would be interesting to see though. I would imagine it is pretty accurate seeing as it was developed by Dr. Greg Forbes who worked directly beside Dr. Fujita. So all in all I would say he nails it 70 to 75% of the time, he just works for the wrong company.
Just finished kayaking on Lake Vesuvius in Ohio and it was so
strange! One minute there would be a hot breeze then a cold
one would blow right after! Never experienced that before!
First day of winter and it was 70 degrees. I love it. Hope thats a sign we don’t have much of a winter. Little or zilch snow fall would be . Stay dry , warn and safe everyone. Thanks chris
You respectfully come across to be a bit of an instigator with apparently veiled posts. From a weather standpoint, such warm temps this time of year tend to create far more harm than good, and you surely 100% know that 99% of the folks here directly conflict with your repeatedly stated love of all things warm in winter.
If warmth is what you like, you probably will be disappointed soon.
NlyIm not bothering you so please dont attack you. Like you I’m only stating my thoughts on weather. Believe it or not everybody doesnt love snow, but thank you for your concern. God bless
How do you get that people are attacking you on here? NO one has EVER attacked you on here. BubbaG was simply stating his opinion just like you.
Cgm40 dont attack me, thanks and god bless.
I hate my phone, grr.. Meant to say, I’m not bothering, so please don’t attack me.
Nobody is attacking you and BubbaG states his opinion on what he thinks the weather will do. You on the other handstate what you want it to do without thinking of how it affects others. Have a nice day. 🙂
Calling me names, like, instigator is attacking me.
Stating a person’s opinion on what another is doing is not attacking.
Obviously she is a troll.
See what i mean, attacking and calling names.
I went out of my way to be nice about it and you were nice in your response. Seems even Steven IMO 🙂
I did say. “You come across a bit”, so pulled back some for courtesy.
Trust me, Barb, I am not attacking you. I am simply stating the obvious. You can go from the nicest person to stating things that simply aren’t true in a matter of two posts.
good point Bubba, let’s face it if this blog did not have any snow lovers on it she would be posting to Jiminy Cricket.
whoever this person is they are desperately seeking attention.
with that said I am NOT going to respond to anything this person has to say.
its not like we want it to snow all 365 days of the year.
by the way I wish I was in Hawaii .
I did not mean to come across as harsh and thought I pulled back from being rude, but that IMO of course.
Seems if a person loves it warm all the time, perhaps this area is not the optimum place. I prefer changes of seasons so like it. If it snows, cool! If not, I will positive spin that too! 🙂
Well, I really DO despise the ankle biter snows though, since all they do is cake our cars in salt and cause a lot of accidents. No spinning those or ice 🙁
I agree Bubba. Me thinks we have the scorned lover of the ice man on board!!! And they pack their own salt to pour in our snow staved wounds.
freaky weather huh? only in KY!
it will be blowin’ the snow soon enough, I imagine.
way to go Cats and thank you Chris.
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas! Wow, today’s temps are unreal! Thank you Chris for everything you do for us.
Tornado watch for Louisville and points to the southwest of here.
And if the good lord gives us snow, ill take it and make the best of it.
🙂
Down to 64 from a high of 71. Seems like the worst weather is certainly out West.
This storm is a monster look at the real estate this storm is taking in its path. Tornadoes,Flooding Rains,Freezing Rain,Snow,Sleet, and hail for good measure. Also a high wind advisory and record warmth, enough said all possible weather bases are covered.
CB did dub it a Wild Weekend. Sounds like one of them movies I was supposed to be asleep when came on third, during a drive-in triple feature when I was a little lad 😉
Barb your persecution complex is hilarious. 😉
Wow, winter just began and temps were in 70s and even mid to upper 70s in eastern ky. Woke up to heavy rain and thunder last night a few times. I already have spring fever, feels soo warm but a bit humid and muggy! CB is a busy man right now, thanks Chris for all your hard work!
It’s okay Barb, they’re actually a harmless bunch. It’s just that around this time each year, they come together to put on a community theater production of “The Hills Have Eyes”, and their enthusiasm for method acting gets the best of them. Hamlin’s head shaving is of particular need for recognition. 🙂
Nah it’s a buzzcut. 😉
Look at the NWS Louisville radar in motion……..it’s funny how much more intense the line looks when you put the radar in loop mode as opposed to non-loop. I can’t believe I’m looking at a line of storms like this Dec 21st….
